I have a lot of posts that relate to business and leadership. It is time to write another post but talking about business isn’t what is really on my mind. I was looking for inspiration for what to discuss and came across this:
And therefore the question: where is your happiness?
Has life gotten so complicated for most of us that we haven’t taken a step back to appreciate the things in life that are simple and bring us joy? Yes, I understand that we have responsibilities we need to take care of and life isn’t always a frolic on the beach but can you even answer the question posed? Do you have to scour your soul and still find nothing?
What is it that makes you happy? And I am not talking about that “finding your passion” theme that seems to be everywhere. No. What I am talking about is the simple joy that you may find knowing that it is going to be 45 degrees today (well not today if you live in the North East). Turning to look at your child and having them spontaneously smile at you. Sharing an inside joke with your significant other that creates a belly laugh, one that you have not had in a long time.
Life isn’t easy. No one ever said it was going to be. It is not easy and it is not fair. But life can be good and it often is, if you let it. So, if you are having a hard time answering this question, maybe dig deeper than you have or maybe stop and don’t dig. Sometimes the things bring us joy don’t need much thinking about at all. We just need to allow the moment and acknowledge it has come.
